VP of Lending
Summary:
The VP of Lending reports to the Executive Vice President. The primary focus of the position is to manage and grow consumer lending, indirect lending, and manage and minimize loan delinquencies and losses. This position requires the ability to function and manage at a strategic level to execute the credit union’s annual goals. Must manage third-party relationships, have strong business judgment, and make sound and prudent decisions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reporting directly to the EVP, you’ll be instrumental in driving the success and growth of our lending business across consumer, indirect, and residential sectors.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to drive market share growth and achieve loan production goals.
- Responsible for consumer lending, mortgage lending, indirect auto, and collection departments.
- Develop leadership within areas of responsibility and ensure a culture of professional development through coaching and mentoring staff.
- Ensure member satisfaction with all loan channels, loan-related products/services, and points of contact.
- Develop strategies for continued growth of loan products, profitability, and efficiency, related to achieving strategic goals and direction.
- Responsible for creating and maintaining a sales culture in all lending areas and growing the consumer, indirect auto, and mortgage lending portfolios.
- Manage all third-party lending channels, such as mortgage origination and indirect auto lending to ensure growth and efficiency.
- Create, manage, and monitor credit union strategic plans and the annual operating budget for all lending-related departments.
- Provide overall strategic direction, leadership, and day-to-day management for lending and collections departments.
- Maintain responsibility for all compliance-related requirements in lending and collections.
- Evaluate, monitor, and report the effectiveness of credit union lending practices and underwriting guidelines. Reports to EVP on lending activities and results monthly.
- Ensure that operations are conducted by established credit union policies, legal and regulatory requirements, including, but not limited to, understanding of compliance with the Credit Union’s BSA-ALM program.
- Participate with department or other staff in community-related activities and community services initiatives to promote business development and a positive image of Compass Credit Union.
Qualification Requirements – Skills and Knowledge:
- Thorough knowledge of Credit Union products, services, and policies.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive lending management experience in a credit union
- Thorough knowledge of credit risk, business lending, consumer lending and mortgage lending and collections.
- Experience interpreting lending policies and procedures, including State and Federal lending regulations as well as underwriting guidelines
- Strong leadership and people skills
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and research skills
- Meticulous; ensuring efficiency and accuracy
- Multi-task oriented and elevated level of flexibility
- Ability to take ownership and follow through to completion
- Well-developed organizational and time management skills
- Able to operate related computer applications
- A working knowledge of credit union operations, along with a thorough understanding of the credit union’s policies, procedures, products/services, and the core operating system
- Expected elevated level of trust and ability to maintain confidentiality with information
- Ability to identify and implement best practices and continual performance measurement
- Ability to manage the member experience across all channels including retail branches, online channels, communities, and make meaningful connections
